I believe in the magic of Christmas.....
When I was 39, I took a 7 week trip to Alaska and traveled the state alone. It was a beautiful, life-changing adventure, where I met the most terrific humans, experiened things that words cannot describe, spoke with natives of the area learning firsthand about Alaskan life, and saw moose and the Northern Lights. It was a trip of a lifetime!
My "home base", while I was traveling, was the North Pole, where I stayed with a friend during this time. North Pole, Alaska. It's home of the Santa Claus House, where real reindeer live outside and inside is Christmas all year round. Santa is even available to be seen daily!
In all transparency, I was 39 years old, and the magic of Christmas was so powerful when I stepped inside and saw Santa. I felt like Buddy from the movie Elf: "Santa! I know him!" It was a real emotion, an unexplainable overwhelming feeling that Christmas is very much a magical season. Santa was like any other santa we see around Christmas, but stepping inside a place in North Pole, whose entire city represented Christmas, and seeing that representation with a long white beard and red suit, bubbled up a childlike giddiness that could barely be contained. Silly, I know, but true nonetheless.
I have four nieces and nephews, with the youngest being an 8 yr old boy. He is still young enough to believe in the magic of Christmas. My favorite part of Christmas now is watching him. He gets so excited over things that this entire body shakes with excitement! Over the past weekend, he was able to meet Saint Nicholas of Austria (actor) at an event, and he was in pure wonderment!
