Santa is here! Santa is here! It's like Christmas morning, full of surprises!
Whether you believe in Santa or not, or celebrate Christmas or not, we all believe in receiving free gifts. That's what today is about - giving.
As the Christmas story goes, in the Gospel according to Luke, an angel appears before the virgin Mary, who was engaged to be married to Joseph, and told her God had chosen her to carry his Son, who was to be called Jesus. Jesus would grow to become a man whose ministry, at the time, was in Israel. It was during a time when traveling was mostly by feet; cars were not invented, there were no telephones, no internet, no airplanes to help to spread the word. Yet, even with lack of communications, Jesus' Ministry is still the largest ministry to date.
Jesus is a gift in so many way. He was Mary's gift; any mother knows a child is a gift from God. He was a gift to His tribe - he was their leader, their mentor. He is the human race's gift from God - to save us from our sins. And He is our gift of eternal life.
